The aluminum rain chains are good looking and functional, and the links themselves are pretty beefy and solid but since they are aluminum they are still nice and lightweight. They do splash a bit, but that was to be expected from this style, and they are in a location where it isn't problematic (don't judge the patio too harshly, we are still finishing putting it together!). They are much less splashy than just having the rain fall out of a hole at the end of my gutter, so that's a plus. XD
We wanted to do the aluminum since copper and zinc/galvanized both introduce metals into stormwater that are problematic to the salmon in our waterways, and I feel that coated metals tend to look bad after a while, so I am very glad the aluminum was an option.
